The Tabby House Breezy Guide to Charlotte County Florida
Published in Paperback by Tabby House (February, 1998)
Average review score:

Very helpful information about a limited area.Great guide to a small part of Southwestern Florida. Lots of historical background, places to see and things to do. I'm planning to move there later this year, so the guide was a godsend! Be warned, however, that in spite of the cost, this is a fairly small book. If you're visiting for a while or planning on moving, this is a better source of information than general Florida guide books that tend to gloss over anything on the west coast south of Sarasota.

Average review score:

Gently written and warmly illustratedThe eighth volume in the outstanding Bay Light Publishing "Thank You, God" series, Thank You, Jesus is the story of a little girl named Madison who is afraid of a lame kitten. After Madison's grandmother tells her the story of Jesus and how he loves everyone even though they are different, she falls in love with the kitten and asks to keep it. Gently written by Charlotte Lundy and warmly illustrated by heather Claremont, Thank You, Jesus is an especially recommended picture book for parents and Sunday School teachers wanting to help children to realize and accept that it is okay for them to care for someone with a handicap or who may look or sound or behave differently from themselves. Indeed, the final sentence of this remarkable story is "Thank you God for sending Jesus to teach us to love everyone even thought they may be different."

Recommended for young readers age 3-10Recommended for young readers age 3-10, Thank You, Solomon is a color picturebook about a little boy who gets a new puppy as a Christmas gift. But puppies require a lot of care, and only someone who can be responsible for a puppy's needs can own a puppy. The boy learns what it is to be responsible from the biblical story of Solomon. Engagingly written by Charlotte Lundy whose narrative is wonderfully showcased with the artwork of Miriam Sagasti, Thank You, Solomon incorporates the biblical story of Solomon's succession after the death of his father King David. Highly recommended for family, Sunday School, Bible School, and community library collections.

That's My Dog
Published in Hardcover by Putnam Pub Group Juv (July, 2001)
Average review score:

One Really Great Dog.....As our young narrator tells us at the beginning, "I've got a dog." And with that one little sentence, this proud owner is off and running, as he describes his wonderful pet in detail. He's a red dog, a big red dog and he's happy and muddy and smart. He's bouncy and slobbery and sometimes very sneaky. And he's stinky, "the most stinky dog I've ever met!" But most of all, we're told on the last page, "That's him!/That's my dog!/Isn't he a great dog!"..... Using color, changing type sizes, creative spacing, motion and energy, Rick Walton and Julia Gorton have authored an innovative and inventive little book about adjectives. The simple text builds on itself with each page turn until it practically explodes off the page, and is complemented by Ms Gorton's bold and expressive artwork as she uses the descriptive language to draw boy and dog. Perfect for pre-schoolers and emerging readers, That's My Dog is a little treasure of a book and a story kids will want to enjoy again and again.

This Quiet Lady
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (September, 2000)
Average review score:

The Perfect Mother's Day Gift"This Quiet Lady " would be my perfect Mother's Day Gift. The story is simple: a little girl is looking at photographs of her mother through the years. Her mothers as a baby, as a baby, young girl, bride, and then, finally, as a mother. `This quiet lady, lovely and large...is my mother...And here is where I begin."
Each description of the mother is accompanied by beautiful illustrations showing all the life and love of her mother. This is a lyrically sweet book and one to be shared with your daughters...and your mothers. Trust me....don't just buy it for your daughter....buy it for your mother.

Three Lords for Lady Anne (Signet Regency Romance)
Published in Paperback by New American Library (October, 1991)
Average review score:

Read it at one sitting, very clever and engagingI will admit that at first I got a little frustrated with the book, since the hero and heroine don't even meet each other until page 92, and I was wondering whether it would ever get around to the "romance" part! But, despite the rather slow start, and the fact that at the beginning it was hard to figure out who all the characters were, it turned out to be a highly enjoyable read. Lady Anne has become a governess to support herself and to get away from her odious relatives. She is something of a bluestocking, as well as being so tall that she towers over many men. She is independent, intelligent, and strong(just my type of heroine--can't stand the simpering miss type). Her new charges are twin boys, and they provide much of the humor and tenderness in the book. I would love to hear what becomes of them when they grow up! Their guardian, Bronson, Lord Letham, has a very low opinion of women, and no inclination for marriage, and Anne believes that men are pretty much useless and that marriage wrecks a woman's life. It is so much fun to follow these two along and watch them change their minds. The dialogue was great. One of my favorite parts is when Bronson is on his knees to apologize and he says, "...you have brought me to my knees. I hope you are satisfied. You may name your price." The thing that came to Anne's mind was the line from the fairy story--"I want your firstborn son!"
All in all, a highly enjoyable, romantic and funny read. I am looking forward to reading The Black Widow, which is the story of one of Bronson's friends, Demetrius. I am sure I won't be disappointed. Every one of Charlotte Louse Dolan's books have gone on my keeper shelf after I have read them.

Through a Glass, Darkly

Attention getter from the startMy mother Geneva was born in Marshall County, Boaz, Alabama. She has never liked to read books, but she was given an autographed copy of Behold this Dreamer for Christmas. The moment she opened this book she was hooked! She would discuss the characters at every meal and in the evening as if they were part of the family! She has constantly asked us if the second book has come out and we found Through a Glass, Darkly. She read this in 3 days! This from someone who disliked to read! She is now asking when the third series is coming out--can you help?! Thank you for such a wonderfully engrossing book, it has brought back a lot of memories for her--she, by the way, is 76.
In this third installment in the Millionaire, Montana series, Jennifer Faulkner inherits her grandfather's share of the jackpot. As a child, Jennifer spent summers and holidays with her grandparents but has not been back for ten years. On her first day back in Jester, Jennifer literally runs into the love of her life, Sheriff Luke McNeil. Each believes the other dumped them ten years ago. Can they work out their differences and rekindle their love?
This is the best book in the series so far. The relationship between Jennifer and Luke sizzles. Luke's sister Vicki is a good secondary character who never gives up on trying to reunited her close friend with her brother.
